COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS

Lane County Farmers Market

HOW OUR VOLUNTEERS HELP

Our volunteers are community members who tend to be very comfortable cooking seasonally and eager to share some tasty seasonal recipes with our market shoppers.

In short, we look for reliable, knowledgable, and enthusiastic volunteers interested in teaching the public how to cook with the abundance of fresh and delicious foods grown in Lane County. Experience public speaking and cooking is a plus.

We've found that it's helpful to have an "assitant" of sorts during these demos so we ask that our demo "chefs" bring a friend or partner to help make the demo run smooth.

WHAT AND WHEN

Wondering what anyone does with Kohlrabi? Or Rainbow Chard? Are you wanting to learn how to efficiently cut up that big bunch of greens?

Our Cooking Demonstrations are one of the ways the Friends of the Farmers Market is helping attract new customers to the Lane County Farmers Markets.

Cooking demos led by dedicated, talented and knowedgable volunteers will be presented every 1st and 3rd Saturday at the downtown Farmers Market at 11:00am. Come by and learn how to utilize the produce and food available at the farmers market to make easy and tasty meals at home!

Over the course of the season a variety of recipes will be presented using foods that are available at the market. Recipes for that day's demos will be available at the cooking demo and on this website. See the Recipes page for recipes from last season's demos.

Check the "What's Happening" page for updates about who is cooking and what delicious foods they have in store for you!
